Come along and join us
Canzonetta Singers are a small friendly group typically performing mid year and Christmas concerts.
Our main aim is to support local community organisations by giving free concerts enabling them to raise funds for their own needs.
Our second objective is that we should all enjoy rehearsals as well as concert performance.
At Christmas we enjoy singing at local supermarkets collecting for charities, and over the last decade we have raised around £8,000 for Willen Hospice plus further collections for Help for Heroes, the British Heart Foundation and Neuroblastoma.
Canzonetta Singers have a portfolio of Wedding music and we make a modest charge for singing at weddings enabling us to purchase music books for our concerts.
We meet every Thursday evening in term time at the new Wavendon St Mary's primary school, from 8 o'clock to 9:30.
Directions to the school - Coming from the BP roundabout with the traffic lights, join the A421. Go straight over the Greg Rutherford roundabout. At the next roundabout turn right into the Eagle Rest development. Turn left into Wafandun Lane and the school is on your right. It’s a big grey building with a large logo on the side. Theere are plenty of parking spaces.
Sight reading is not a requirement although it is good to have. However, our musical director Sharon Hardacre takes us through each part, note by note ensuring that we are always ready to perform at a high standard.
We do recognise that family and work commitments often mean that members are unable to attend every rehearsal. This does not impair our ability to perform well as each of us are dedicated to ensuring that we attend when we can. We also produce part learning files for members to learn from on their computers or mobile devices.
Although we are small in numbers we are able to perform a wide variety of works from unaccompanied pieces to full orchestral works.
